By grades five and six, students need to ensure the quick recall of basic math facts. While we can count our fingers and toes..cheerios if the numbers get too high, repetitive practice is the only way to get basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts down pat.
These basic math facts are building blocks to the math we will be doing this year. There are many apps and free online games that make it more fun than the old flashcard format.

IXL is a great resource that supports the material being covered in the mathematics program. There is a subscription fee and it is worthwhile; however, if you are not wanting to pay for it, the program does allow students to do some questions free each day.
